On Saturday, 9th of September 2017, as part of Cambridge Home and Garden showtalks, I delivered two presentations: one on how to create an ideal kitchen and the second on how to make your home look more expensive with clever hacks (not Ikea hacks though!).
Because I love sharing clever ideas, and because part of my vision is to make good design accessible and possible to everyone, I thought it would be a great idea to share what I collated in different blog posts. So, here’s the first one: “How to make your hallway look more expensive?”
Let’s start with the most obvious thing: using mirrors. A right mirror, in the right size, in the right finish, can definitely add a touch of glamour, make the space look bigger and lighter.

Another thing which can add an interest to your hallway, and make it look more ‘designy’, is a clever coat/bag hanger. What I created here is quite unusual, and not so difficult to make yourself, if you feel this is right for you and your home. Simply stick a plush fabric or alternatively a wallpaper to the board and attach to the frame; chose a nice, unusual hook, and voila!
Don’t forget to use reflective surfaces, glass, metal or silvery fabrics in your hallway- it will instantly make it look more expensive!
Pick an oversized artwork for your hallway or entrance walls- really go big! This will create an eye-catching, gallery feel!
